Normally I'm not bothered by needles, but still... I was supposed to have two cannylas placed to my inner arms, to the place they use when donating blood. The doctor had good 45 minutes for it. First, he tried right hand. then, the left hand. Then, right again. Then left again... The problem was that when the radioactive material arrives, the patient *has to be ready*. The half life is so quick on the stuff they use that there is no time for fumbles.
In the end, I was like, "maybe you should call someone?" The time was running out and it was decided that one canyl would be enough. Also, they called an anesthesia specialist, who, after some digging, managed to place that one cannyla, on my wrist. He said that he didn't usually put it there because it would hurt so much but I was all "Bring it on!" OW! Look at your inner wrist. That big blue vein? That one. Like, ouch.
Anyway, after that it was a little blurry awhile because there were a lot of people hurrying me to the machine and securing me in it. Because of the lonely small cannyla that I had, the poor doctor didn't even have a blood sample and he had to take it from the tip of my finger.
Eh. the doctor informed me that the next time, I would be wheeled straight to the specialist...
Now I look like a crack addict, having needle marks on both of my arms and wrists. Be thankful when if I don't post a picture of my largest bruise.

Date: 2005-04-13 07:12 pm (UTC)I used to be hysterically scared of needles, especially canyl needles, but in my late teen years I got poked with so many needles that it stopped being scary. Luckily I have well-visible veins - but I bruise very easily, so I often ended up looking like a crack addict too. :D
