I'm now keeping a huge hammer by my bed. When my neighbor starts to spontaneously sing after eleven a'clock, I'll hammer my poor bookshelf with it. The noise is *quite* loud and have so far done the trick.

..Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a dorm.

Question to Finns: I have decided to buy my own little domain name. What service provider would you recommend? Is there anyone that I should avoid?

I've been very happy with mine (http://www.sigmatic.fi/yritysesittely/), and they don't have a problem with hosting pr0n or 'epäsiveellinen aineisto' as so many of them put it. But whatever you do, don't get hosted with these people (http://int2000.net/)! For they are evil.

Also, you could check out http://www.hostingvertailu.org/ to compare different hosts. I've found it very useful in comparing them when I was toying with the idea of changing hosts. Not that I'm not happy with them (I am!) but they are more expensive than (as is Wax's) some.

I didn't know that hosting would be that expensive! 100-200€ a year is a big money! And I didn't know that you would have to pay for your domain name after registering it. I though that the whole idea was that you dont rent it but buy it. What happens if you don't pay? It will rot away? Somebody else can buy it?

I'm all confused with the käyttöjärjestelmäthing. If you put up only html.-and picture files, what does it matter what the system is? Does it have to be the same as in my home computer? No?

Some of the hosting services are really expensive, but some offer hosting at ca. 50€ for a smaller packages (I don't think you'll need 400MB of disk space, but can make do with with something smaller like 100MB). I really recommend looking through www.hostingvertailu.org and reading what people have said about different hosts there.

Don't worry about the käyttöjärjestelmäthing, it makes no difference for you. If you were a computer nerd who was writing his own scripts or something, then it might matter.

I think this firm: http://www.shnetworks.net/ sounded good when I was checking it out, they have good offers (like 200MB/year = 45€) and as far as I could tell didn't object to pr0n.

At first I thought you were afraid of burglars or something like that, but that's a good use, too. Ahahaha.
