I found a list of the 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990–2000 in the USA. (http://www.ala.org/bbooks/top100bannedbooks.html) It's a scary reading. In the list can be found:

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Harry Potter (Series) by J.K. Rowling
Heather Has Two Mommies by Leslea Newman
The New Joy of Gay Sex by Charles Silverstein
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
What’s Happening to my Body? Book for Girls: A Growing-Up Guide for Parents & Daughters by Lynda Madaras
Cujo by Stephen King
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Women on Top: How Real Life Has Changed Women’s Fantasies by Nancy Friday

So they are banning health books for teen agers, awareness books for children and dystopia fantasy fictions for adults. Oh joy. The bans are only for libraries, but think about those books that will never be published at all because the publishing companies fear the authorities and the right wing?

Fun fact: Did you know that the net page for United States government is the only government page that actually forgets to mention of *what country* the government is of?
