Hi,

Thank you to all who replied privately to me, and on here I guess.

I decided to keep posting my story. I know that everyone is entitled
to their own opinion, and I really shouldn't take it to heart. I
didn't, but after I got replies saying it was good and that it took
alot of guts to post it, I decided to keep posting.

I did have a beta, but she bailed on me. I had to do it myself. Here
is Chapter 2.

the fic continued with the same crap. It wasn't *really* bad, it was just lame.

You know what? I have actually gone ahead and offered beta services to people who *claimed* that they wanted them, and in all except *one* case the writers were unresponsive and sometimes downright rude. Whining "but I don't have a beta! How can I get better?" is just their get-out-of-jail card most of the time; if you offered to beta for this girl, there's an excellent chance that she would write you back with huffy justifications for everything she's written. Most of them aren't ready to hear critiques without taking them to heart.

So I guess what I'm saying is--yeah, you were kind of curt with her, but in the long run it probably doesn't matter because even if you'd sent private, non-judgemental, completely fair critique there's not much hope for it being taken to heart. It's best not to waste your time and valuable effort, because it just makes you want to EAT NAILS in the end to END THE AGONY.

...No, I'm not bitter. Not at all. *g*

Er...what I meant of course was "without taking them PERSONALLY." Sheesh. I could use a damn beta reader myself. *g*

Yep, sometimes whatever you do, it won't change the fandom or fiction to any better. It feels like some people are in this for the applause, and those people really take it personally.

Annoying things won't change just because I want to interfere. Maybe sometimes the cold shoulder of indifference could be for the best.
