Fannish squee ahead! Beware!

  • Got a link to This American Idol fic site and registered to read. The whole place felt pretty odd to me. Took me about five minutes to notice that hey, all the fic was het! No wonder then ;)

  • I have almost completely abandoned [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt in favor of [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai. ONTD is about snark and hatin'. ontd_ai is about snark and lovin'. I'm tired of hating, I want giddy love all the time, thanks.

  • During the last few weeks, there has been many friend-listers writing how they were actually loving this Adam Lambert-stuff. Welcome to the bandwagon! Here, have some fic. (Also, working on two of my own at the moment.)

  • Guess who wrote her first fan letter ever? Guess two times to who? :D

  • Ended up with a more-or-less deep conversation with a kind-of-a-relative. The kind-of-a-relative was really interested about the relationship between fan fiction on person's fantasies, and wether or not fan fiction fantasies worked as a substitute to a life that the fan fic-user couldn't or wouldn't live in real life. Oh, and she also wanted links to my works. Which I provided. *crosses fingers*.

    Here, have a picture:

I am totally in favour of fan fic working as a substitute for things lacking in real life. Why do people read detective stories or thrillers? They want to feel things they do not normally feel in the real world. Why do people read trashy romance novels? They know the story already, it's almost the same in every book! They want to feel the romance they might not have in real life! Why would fanfic be anything different only because the reader knows the charaters in advance?

As above. Human beings have feelings as well as intelligence, and the ability to practice both by will is the feature which separates us from the animals, not intelligence as such, or even use of tools. So go ahead.

Hey, thanks for explaining the difference between ohnotheydidnt & ontd_ai.
I'd thought they were the same.
