Oh damn. Everybody knows about the crash of a private plane, involving DJ AM and Travis Barker? And it was supposed to be old news already? I was all happy going, like "Hey, they are no longer critical, they survived, everything is cool, lets move on to the Who Wore It Better", and then I heard that they both have burned really, really badly. now I'm fearing a new post that announces that DJ AM has passed away.

I don't want to see that post. When Princess Diana died, it came really important to me to know if her bodyguard survived. (He did.) It was my way of making it personal, I guess. In Europe, *everyone* took Princess Di's death personally. It was like we had a some kind of communal right to feel personally upset for someone that we had never met.

I'm reaching the same state of upset right now. And it's not like I was even their fan or anything. If something like that would happen to the objects of my fannish love (who names I can't superstitiously mention in this post) I would probably go nuts. This is a new peek for me for the potential consequences of emotional fan commitment.

Is DJ AM the one who dated Nicole Richie? And Travis Barker... vocalist in some band and married to that Shannon(?) person who fights a lot?

Anyways, I'm really sorry for you. That sucks. :(

Yes, DJ AM dated Nicole Richie. Travis Barker was a drummer for a band Blink 182 and later appeared in his own reality tv series. One of the four that died in the crash was Travis' friend and business partner Chris Baker, he had just had a baby with his wife :(

I hadn't heard! I'm not emotionally invested enough to feel horrible, but it's still Travis and a piece of my teenie years there so I don't feel entirely unaffected either.

I'm so sorry to hear this. More than 50% of his skin burned? He doesn't have good ods to survive, not at all.

Lets hope for a recovery. There is always hope.

Yeah, and with the info that DJ AM's face is burned, too, makes me fear that he will slowly suffocate :( Somewhere it was said that the death rate estimate in serious burns is the burn area percentage + age, so he has about 20-80 odds against him :(

Nope, not me. I think, the only thing I've ever felt personally touched by was the murder of Olof Palme.
