When this picture surfaced over a month ago, I was right away like, "They look like comic book characters!" Yes they do with their tiny size and bulky sneakers. Took me this long to actually try this out. (The background is grey because the actual paper was grey. I had no white paper in the house. How pathetic is that?)
The original pic:

Here is my quick and dirty:

Two kinda-character studies, of young and older Patrick. A couple of hundred more of these and I will get the characteristics down. And then I can start drawing other thins too than just people standing around. Whew.

P.S. I seriously need a drawing tablet.

Date: 2008-08-24 04:21 pm (UTC)I like the pictures :) Especially Patrick.
In the group picture, Patrick is still great and patricky (Gee, I wonder who you like best.) The second guy is blonde, what happened there? They both got very nice postures.
Third guy, erase the line above his knee, makes the leg look weird. Plus his right hand has very tense position (since in your picture, his upper body is more tilted to the side, the hand hanging down should be more separate from the body.)
Pete... shouldn't he be tiny? And he misses the hair.
Awesome shoes! (I think drawing shoes is very difficult.) You should post more pictures. Request: MCR!

Date: 2008-08-24 04:47 pm (UTC)I love drawing the jeans and the shies in the super deformed style. It's the faces that cost me trouble. Hmm, should I take MCR to my repertoire, or stick with FOB until I have learned them? Hmm..
