Jul. 12th, 2008 06:11 pmbabysitting my sis' two- and three year olds while she and hubby went shopping. Eight hours ago. Talk about stretching a favor. Fuuuck...
edit: In case someone got an impression that I was really in the mood of "fuck you!", that was not my intention. It was more like "eight hours with kids not my own, scooped inside because it rains, nyaargh!". It was just my way to write things. I thought I was entertaining. Everyone got this? Good. I'm sorry that my mood didn't come through in my original entry.

Date: 2008-07-13 07:12 am (UTC)BTW, how can we ever get a babysitter after the second one is born? Who in their right minds comes to take care of a little baby AND a running toddler who has uhmaikä? When they grow, that's a different matter, but for the next year or so...we are at home in prison. All of us. Unless we all 4 go somewhere. But shoudl have thought of that before we decided to try for the second one. And now we are already planning for the third one. Goodbuy free time and daily job.
The sis came back and was like, "oh what a hard work the shopping was!"
Shopping is hard work if you not accustomed to it and even if you are. It just made me giggle a bit, becuse it reminded me of my cousins ex-hostess while she was an au-pair in London. The family was fairly well-to-do, since the mom wasn't working and they still wanted an au-pair for one kid. The mom spend all the days shopping and having lunch in London while my cousin took care of the kid and kept the house immaculately clean and made dinners, luches for the dad who popped in to eat at noon etc.
And every time the lady of the house came back with the black cab and handful of Harrod's bags, she complained how exhausted she was and rested the whole evening in her room. Once she even told my cousin how easy her life was because she was able to stay at home istead of going shopping and eating for the whole day with other society ladies. My friend liked the kid, level headed dad of the family and her job, so she just laughed when the lady didn't see.
Your sis was just so relieved to have some change into her life that she forgot totally to be polite and even ask did you have a tough day. It happens when you tired and when she does that everyday what you did just for one day. Or the she just didn't say anything intentionally, because she wanted you to know how housewives usually are treated. : ) Not thanks or questions like "how are you coping?" from anyone even though it's a tough job being at home all day with two kids.

This is so true. Maybe it's time for Emmuzka to learn some empathy... ;-) Sorry... I understand both sides, being experienced with both.

Date: 2008-07-13 09:45 pm (UTC)In my life, a trip to a local grocery store is something to look forward to, so I was VERY grateful for your help, and I said it repeatedly. I'm still trying to be grateful, but you have made it very hard indeed.
Your post made me cry the whole night. Thanks.
Jos nyt jotakuta enää kiinnostaa, niin kävimme ostamassa kokonaan uuden vaatevaraston epästandardin kokoiselle miehelle (joka vihaa sydämensä kyllyydestä vaateostoksia) täysin vieraasta Helsingin kokoisesta kaupungista, jonne mennään junalla. Ekana käytiin juna-asemalta ostamassa kartta...
