Am I the only one with a bad eye sight? Reading fics like this one really make my eyes bleed. I don't think that grey-on-grey has never been a hit concerning a good resolution. So okay, it's your style and you can make it so that it looks pretty in your computer and in your settings and people can read you stuff with the style=light if they want, but if no-one reads ever your stuff through your lj-style, what is the point of it? Outside, you know, you personally liking it.

Question of the day: What is the most expensive single piece of clothing that you have bought in the last two years? Did you buy it because you had to, or because you wanted to, or both? (my answer in comments)

I have bought a blazer for work, stylish, special xxxl sized, with leopard print (heh heh). It costed 120 Euros (About 175 dollars). It might be the most expensive garment that I have ever bought, outside a vinter jacket. No, I didn't *have* to buy it, I just really, really wanted it. And now that it's the time to take it to the dry cleaners the first time, *now* i*m feeling cheap-scate ;)

Well, it is almost two years ago... A long black woollen winter coat. I can't remember the cost but something between 200 and 300. So quite ordinary, I think? And I really needed it. And wanted it. :)

And my average shoes and lingerie always end up costing nearly 100 euros so everything is relative.

Outch! My last bra cost me a whopping EUR 6.95 in Lindex's throw-away- sale O_O

Hmm. I can't remember anything extra expensive, as I'm still trying to find myself a new winter coat: my old one is 15 years old.

I tend to pay a lot for shoes, I have somewhat problematic feet and if I cheat and buy cheap shoes, I almost always have to give them away because my feet hurt too much to walk in them. On the other hand, I live close to the centre of the city so it's easy to go and see what the sales bins offer: I've scored shoes for almost half the original price! It really pays to take the time and wander through shops few times a month. ETA: the price I'm willing to pay for shoes is 100-150 €.

And speaking of bras: mine is a size problem. Since I have these ridiculous E-cups, I really really need good, supportive bras and those cost a lot. Lindex and other chain stores don't even manufacture my size so finding cheap bras is for me is impossible. Luckily, I've found a brand that has a "basic" bra that fits me well, feels comfortable and costs around 50 €/pair.

I'm doomed to buy extra-sized (And priced!) clothes, but at least I'm super-standard, everything goes-type in underwear and shoe-department. Saves a lot of money, that..

Let's face it: the clothing industry makes clothes for people who are approximately same height, same width, same weight and same-looking. If you don't fit into this mold, forget it: it's either t-shirts and gym pants from Tarjoustalo or extra special LARGE person stores. Grr.

About the bras: I read you! I also have E-cups, and "industrial" is what I call the bras I need. Part of me wishes I was larger around the body, just to bra proportions would work... Before I moved from Finland I found great T-shirt bras at Lindex, bras I didn't feel guilty for using = wearing out. How silly is that. I live in fear that when I come back home they won't have them any more...

Same problem even before kids... And now? G is not easy to find. Luckily I moved to a country with better clothes stores than in Finland. If I only would have some free time to go shopping...

Let me advertise a bit: the brand I'm talking about is Prima Donna. They make bras up until size 105 H or so and they're very nice-looking bras, not the colour of liver paté. It's an Austrian brand, if I remember correctly so it's available outside Finland as well.

We really need a Bravissimo store somewhere in Finland. Until that, I do my bra shopping online.

My bra size keeps changing because my weight is changing, so I'm in a very silly bra place right now. My size as it is now: 70F. Obviously there's no point even going into Lindex. However, Sokos Wiklund had several! They weren't even that expensive. I felt very validated even though one of them is a very unfortunate vomit pink.

O_o

If you would be taller, you would be like, dream-sized. (or, that depends on the dream and the dreamer, I guess...)

Hah, I'm a cushy 95E myself so yeah, I can see your problem. Not very many women are naturally your size. And why oh why would anyone make anything in vomit pink? Eww.

Yeah, I don't know how it turned out this way. I've lost a bunch of weight and for some reason I now have a really narrow chest, but still enough tit volume left to build up the cup size. IDK, it's a mystery.

I bought a wedding dress. It was expensive, but not as expensive as my beloved custom made vibrantly red wool coat. The fact that both items fit my E-cup boobies without stretchy fabric makes me happy.

So either the wedding dress was a bargain or the wool coat was super expensive, if my knowledge of the wedding dress prices is correct. And I want to eventually see pictures of that wedding dress!

Having thought about this I realize that the coat was paid for in FIM and the dress in USD. Oopsie!

Firetrap jeans, 120€. Augh. They're very nice, though. All my other jeans cost about 30 bucks. I think those may be the single most expensive piece of clothing I have EVER bought in my life. I don't know how it happened, srsly.

I bet they looked fabulous :)

Yep, sometime you meet clothes, bags and shoes that are like, *I have to have them, no matter the price*. Fortunately, 1)it doesn't happen often, 2) I have yet to buy a "must have" garment of which I couldn't actually afford to have, and 3)Realism is still my friend. It's like, "I have to have that lamp, no matter what! What does the price tag say? 400EUR? Oh, okay. WHAT!? 4000 EUR?!? Uh, never mind, then..."

i feel like hot stuff when i wear them!

About 60 euros from Past Times nightgown. Had to and needed to. Who doesn't need nightgowns? Except for those who sleep naked or dont' like to wear ones before going to sleep.
Usually I buy stuff that costs no more than 20 or 25 euros, whether it's a shirt or shoes or whatever. But Past Times and some lingerie are an exception.

Just don't ask how much I have spent to books or dvds. ; )

I think I paid like 120 eurs for a nice spring/fall cape-thingy. It's a nice looking pseudo-coat, but it isn't really very handy, so I rarely wear it. :( Oh! And 100 euros for my cowboy boots. Love those. So yeah, money well spent.

Am not going to even mention bras here...

Usually I don't spend more than 30 euros on any one item, so I had to go back two years to find the most expensive thingy: I paid $150 for running shoes. That stung a little, but it was really the best purchase ever: my feet are horrible and have a lot of problems, so I need good shoes for jogging/walking. I had a couple of pairs of exercise shoes that I had used for running before, but they were absolutely horrible and my feet came out of the trek really swollen. These shoes have been the best.

I can see the shoes costing that much, easily. But the cost still makes me cringe. Like, just a pair of sneakers. How high tech can a pair of sneakers truly be? A regular consumer can't know how much of the price comes from them being really good shoes for your sports and back etc., and how much of it comes from the brand and being the new hot item. It's like, planning to pay extra for a car because it has safety features and ending up paying even more for shiny wands.

Mine has probably been business power dress suit, something 400-500 EUR, including tailor-made corrections for short me. I also have bought one red-gold shirt-jacket for 170 e, a must have but also justified by my work need...

Umm, I spent 75 euros on my hiking boots. I've been getting mosts of my clothes as donations lately.
