I ended up watching Mary Poppins like a zillion times as a background noise last weekend (since it's my sis' son's favourite at the moment) and now I can't get rid of the damn songs in my head. And I don't even like that movie! Not fun finding myself humming Spoonful of Sugar Makes the Medicine Go Down or that song with the farm animals. Not even mentioning the supercalifragilous-what the fuck ever song.

Gnyaaarrgh!

It kinda grows on me. I think that it has extra powers because it's the only non-cartoon movie that the three and four year olds are enchanted with.

Oh, I need to buy that movie!

I'll trade you for some Winnie-the-Pooh songs, our kid is obsessed with that movie.

I'll see your Winnie-the-Pooh and raise with Veggie Tales songs.

Veggie Tales

I'm too afraid to ask!

And, it should be illegal to add music to the DVD selection screens, since the song loop will kill you if it's left to the background after the program ends.(say, it's morning and you are too tired to pick up the remote.)

It builds character, by for example making you get up early to get the frigging remote. :-)

(I still prefer waking up to annoying songs playing on the tv, instead of somebody bouncing up and down on me.)

A friend of ours (from Israel) sent us some DVD's. One has this tale (made with actors and very arificial looking sets) about Ephraim and his ridiculous dad. It is a good story, and Israeli childrens' songs are always high quality, but it starts getting annoying, when the songs play in your head, and you know only half of the words and don't even understand them all.

But our kids love it.
