So. It looks like Livejournal's new policy is to ban fandom people without contacting them before banning and, instead of striking them through, removing the evidence of them ever existing.
First they say that fandom works are okay.
Then they clarify that actually, it's not okay.
Then they start deleting accounts and removing the evidence. They don't make any announcements over changing the policy on showing the banned people. Nice.
But really, my biggest problem is the one that is probably the most common; I somehow thought that LJ was the internet, and not some regulated commercial service. That I wouldn't have to think about decency issues, that I could write like an adult to other adults. Well. Wrong. I just hope that they stop to where they are now, to their interpretation of what is illegal in the States, and that they don't continue further and Disneyficate the whole thing. If they do, I'm gone.

Date: 2007-08-03 08:46 am (UTC)I will be one of those who will follow after most of the people have moved.
I have a permanent account but luckily I can always change it fr the use of my public, non-fandom persona, if it comes to that.

Date: 2007-08-03 08:24 am (UTC)I don't do chan so I don't personally have reason to worry - now. But what if they next decide that fan fiction is copyright infringement and will be taken down, or that any even remotely explicit material will be considered obscene. Or that even promoting those things will be banworthy?
Besides what choice do I have? If all the fandom starts to migrate somewhere else what else can I do but follow and use LJ just for RL stuff.

Date: 2007-08-03 08:24 am (UTC)Nyt olisi tilausta pistää pystyyn oma maksullinen vastaava site ja alkaa julkistella sitä pitkin lj-yhteistöä (siihen asti kunnes sinut heitettäisiin ulos) ja luvata 25 %:n alennus entisille lj-asiakkaille :).
Mitenkähän ne meinaavat suhtautua eri kielialueisiin. Ruotsalaisissakin merkinnöissä puhuvat "sex"istä koko ajan... Sju ja åtta lienevät sitten jotain paikallisia pervouksia.

Date: 2007-08-03 08:55 am (UTC)Ja itseasiassa muutama fani on jo puuhaamassa mahdollisuuttaa kehittää lj-klooni, joka toimisi lahjoituksilla ja jossa ei olisi fandom-sensuuria. Ei kaupallisia intressejä --> ei HP fanitaiteen bannausta.
