Two of my cats were put to sleep today. I have cried so much that my eyes are swollen and I have a head ache.
Wortti suffered from a liver failure. He lost weight rapidly and in the end he was lethargic, only skin and bones. Wortti was the best cat. Sometimes I think that he thought he was a dog. I threw him balls and small cat toys and he would bring them back to me. He never got tired of that game. He loved people and always came to the door to say hello to my guests. He was black and white and fluffy and he loved being petted. He slept by my side. He was eight years old.
Milka was old and suffered from chronic allergies. I got her as an adult and she was at least 12 years old. She had three litters while in my care, the last one she delivered by cesarean. She was the queen of my small herd. She did - or didn't do- whatever she wanted. She had favorite places where the others were not allowed. She was fearless and when she was in the mood, she was like a statue, completely ignoring me and other cats. She conned her way into the laps of my friends and guests, even those that were afraid of cats or hated the significant amount of cat hair that she shed.
I loved them both.
Meggan - you are now my only one.
