Books, books, we all love books
Mar. 21st, 2007 03:08 pmMy friend bought seven or eight years ago a book called Terraforming; Engineering planetary environments. She paid 800 marks for that book then (about 135eur or 110 dollars). I was, of course, like “800 MARKS FOR A BOOK JUST BECAUSE IT WAS INTERESTING, ARE YOU CRAZY?!”
And guess what? Today she went to check it out if the price of the said book had gone down since then. The book was out of print and sold out, and the cheapest second hand book was listed in Amazon.com for 1999.80 DOLLARS. O_O
She got intrigued and checked out some other geology and space engineering books she has, and lo! Collector items! As she truly is interested about her books only because of the information they hold and not because of the books by themselves, we made a deal that she will photocopy the books for her own use and then I will sell them on eBay or in some other forum. eBay will probably fetch her less money than selling them patiently through professional channels, but she will still have enough for either a flat screen tv or some dental work.
