so, Yesterday I finally had the time to watch SGA 317, "Sunday"
Okay, the most important thing first: the Killing (!). I had heard the rumors of Becket and Wier being cleaned off from the series (what next? They going to behead Teyla in the season four?) but this totally blindsided me. I have to admit that I cried in the end. But only in the final end scene, funerals don't usually do it for me.
About the episode as a whole... I didn't care much about the structure in this one. There were so much "so-and-so-many hours before"-things that instead of interesting, it got confusing and irritating. Well, I liked the idea of fan servicing viewers by telling what the characters would do in their days off, but that wasn't used as good as it could have been. Also, the Wier-can't-date-plot was unnesessarily and inspiring to fast forward.
The idea of the What If was great. What if Rodney or *anyone* would have cared more of Carson's happiness in his day of than their own happiness at the moment and actually gone fishing with him? I hope that this potential collective guilt trip won't go unnoticed by the cript writers. (and no, I don't believe in Carson's "it wasn't your fault"-absolution in the end, Rodney would definitely fester the what if for longer than that.)
And now we are left to speculate if they are going to present a new doctor in the next season or leave the classic science fiction position of the doctor unfulfilled.
Ha. I recently posted a writing about being religious and nonreligious and discussing about how people tend to spread their own truth, no matter if it was about Jesus or slash or Britney Spears or whatever. Right after that I read the first spoilers and reactions to "Sunday" and I had this really intense fan moment. I wanted to squee or stand up or call someone or post an entry that said that I wanted to see that episode RIGHT NOW. I'm not saying that the moment was "religious" per se, but if people would get that feeling every time they would go to church? I would go too.

Date: 2007-01-18 11:01 am (UTC)Why on earth was Carson killed? And is being killed by exploding tumors better or worse than being killed by drapery (like Sirius Black)?
It was like the writer was given characters and a setting but no info on how they realte to each other.
Btw Jewel Staite (Kaylee in Firefly) is joining the cast next season. I suppose she could be the new doctor.
