Can anyone recommend a good DVD store that would deliver from inside the European Union region? I have an urge to buy Homiside: Life on the Streets on DVD but can't afford for the delivery to get stuck in the customs. (Well, I can afford to pay the taxes, but I don't have the time to pick my stuff from the customs, which is in bumfuck nowhere.)

you can get region 1 dvds from amazon.co.uk, but wax thinks you still have to pay customs. it's true they import them from the american amazon, but since THEY do that and then send them to you and they are an EU company, i think it wouldn't get sent to the customs house. but i could be wrong, i guess. i've never done it.

you could try reading the information at amazon.co.uk anyway - it might say.

I have to look into it. I remember that when I tried to order stuff without a visa card some years ago, they bothered to mention only after ordering that by the way, the order was coming from some thirs party seller from the states...

DUH! Whether any charges are payable will depend on the value of the package and where you are having it delivered to. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they might be. You should contact your local customs office for further information.

from here:

So there is no use for ordering through Amazon uk. The deliveries will be taxed anyway. And as it seems like I'm "blacklisted" in the customs, they *will* check avery damn order I'll make. :(

yeah, i got blacklisted too... or maybe it's my parents, since packages from other people have come through all right. but every single fucking package from my parents gets sent there now. 9.9 i hate that place.

I usually order my stuff from filmifriikki or cdon.com.
No need for credit card or worries with customs and such. But unfortunately neither of them seems to have Homiside: Life on the Streets available. At least not at the moment. But if you have time and don't get it from anywhere else, keep those two sites in mind.

There's also www.casablanca.fi but they don't seem to have it. Have you checked www.hintahaku.com?

Hintahaku found only that incredible offer of 95,90 eurs in Videodivari :(

I might have to take my chances and order the mstraight from the USA. And then collect them from the customs.. :(

You know for two seasons of Homicide that doesn't sound terribly bad...

Yes it does, since the first two seasons were short and they are sold as one box, containing not much more than waht a one regular season would.

Ah, so the box just has 13 eps in it. I see. Yeah. It really does sound unreasonable.

The customs office in Helsinki is at the Main Post building. So it's not *that* bad.

I'm just raining on your parade, right?

I had to pick something that stuck in the customs from Vantaa, near the airport.

Ew! That would definitely be too far. But then again I don't really get the customs system. Once a set of tarot cards (worth 10 bucks from eBay) were stuck in the customs, while a week earlier a LotR memorabilia weighing 5 kilos and costing over 200 bucks didn't.
