There are at least three kinds of dreams that all women share, I think. My guess is you have all experienced these:

1) you suddenly remember that you have a pet (or a child) on your responsibility and where is it and when was the last time you fed it?! Angst ensues.

2) You have a terrible need to use a bathroom and when/if you find it it's horrendously dirty, public or otherwise unaccessible or uncomfortable. Angst ensues.

3) You have semi-public sex with someone and you just go with it because otherwise a)other people would notice and b) the other might, you know, stop. (Hopefully) orgasm ensues.

Other suggestions?

Yes to all three of them. I also regularly dream that I have given birth to a baby and I have no idea of how to take care of it. Angst ensues. (It could count as #1, though.)

Yes, some things seem to be universal, like this "If I had a baby/other thing completely dependent of me, would I be able to take care of it?"-nightmare. I think that this is one of the reasons why mpreg fics are popular within some readers ;)

4) You're having mind-blowing sex with Viggo Mortensen celebrity of your choice and you wake up in the middle of it because clearly your subconscious hates you. Frustration ensues. Arrgh! *g*

But yes, familiar with (different variations) of all the dreams on your list, as well as the baby one. (Let's just hope no one reads MPREG to learn about pregnancy and looking after babies. A few minor biological facts, for example, tend to be twisted by default because, well, MPREG.)

I'm sure there are a dozen other "universal" dreams that women have in common, but I can't think of one right now.

Weirdly when I dream celebrity sex, I'm never the one having it. No mary Sue's for me, even when I'm sleeping! How unfair!

Of those, I've only ever had #2. When have it, I always wake up absolutely desperate to go to the toilet, so I think it's my subconscious compromising between MUST PEE NOW! and NOT IN THE BED!

hehe! I'm sure that on a normal adults, even subconsciously we know what we are thought about peeing in the bed being *a very very bad thing*.

So does it count if I dream that I suddenly remember I'm an assassin and I have people to kill and places to be? Hm, okay, once I dreamt that I had a pet snake that I had to feed, but I'm afraid of snakes so it was quite traumatic.

The last one, never, never. I don't remember any peeing dreams, either. Maybe I'm not a woman!

You are maybe the first one that I have met that haven't had any of these. Are you sure that you are normal? And should I even be asking this question? ;)

I'm just not a nurturing person, I guess. Maybe I don't process those particular female traumas in dreams I can remember? I dream about fire and I dream about sex and I sometimes dream about doing impromptu DIY heart surgery on myself with my bare hands. But I do not dream about babies, ever. (Of course, now that I've been talking about it, I'll probably dream about it.)

I don't get #1, but a recurring variation of it: I have a pet and it runs away or dies and somehow it's my fault.

#2: YES. I'm so glad to hear it's not just me who has this dream. It's one of my least favourite nightmares, maybe because I'm so germphobic. I get these a lot when I'm distressed/confused with my life.

#3: Never had one of these, alas. :P

Ow, you got only the bad ones and not the good one! I totally sympatize for the 2). Our minds can make up disgusting things.

I've never had any of these - but I think it's because I'm fairly weird. I tend to have nightmares in which I'm being chased or have snakes around me (and I'm quite phobic about snakes). And I've had the birth dream - I suspect it's one of those evolutionary residual things in which my biological clock is telling me to procreate even though my conscious mind doesn't want children at all.

Oh, the "being chased"-dream. I think that's not even a woman thing. that's a human thing. I never dream about snakes, though. Even when being highly symbolic dream animal, it's gotta be a some kind of cultural thing to fear them.

Yes, all three of those. I hate the #2 ones. #1s are usually about me having given birth to a baby and then not remembering to take care of it, and those aren't fun either.

I've only experienced number one and only about pets. Not about kids.
But I am not very maternal type anyway. Funny to say at this point, but that's true. ; )

Before I got married (I was well over 30 by then) I often had a dream that I was getting married, but I never saw the face of the fiance. That was reeeaally annoying. And I have never heard that single men have dreams about their future weddings.

I have nightmares and dreams almost every night, but think most of them are common among women and men. Or then they are not common among any group of people. Especially my nightmares are Weird! But then again my imagination runs wild also during daytime.
