First, link to all of those who time to time play that "to what would I name my hypothetical children"-game: Baby's Named a Bad, Bad Thing

On the other hand, I would probably name my poor hypothetical child Peetta Carita or Chris Ranma, so what do I know?

Wheh. I'm on my Get-Rid-Of-Things-spree, so for shit and giggles, I put my Britney My little pony custom on eBay last night. And lo! I got a bid for it! There are people as strange as me in the world!

and wtf is going on with lj? Technical broblems? I want my communities, damnit!

Though the names are American, you can still see the fun. Well, even in here some parents are morons, I heard that some tried to name their daughter "Melena"...

Argh, some of those names are really incomprehensibly awful.

However, what's the matter with Melena? Sorry if I'm ignorant of some hidden meaning here, but it doesn't sound any worse than Helena to me.

Melena is latin and means veriripuli = blood diarrhea.

*snicker* Mmmkay. Not such a lovely name then! But I just bet the baby's parents had no idea either.

Would you be interested in some "Backstreet's back" buttons? Got a couple of them for free when I bought some music last week.

(From the baby-names page.) Alexia - there's a good one. Name your kid after the technical term for the inability to read.

A couple of weeks ago, I met 10 year old Decha - pronounced 'Deja', as in the French word for 'already'. Folks, if you can't spell it, take it off the name list.

I really hope that in my country people won't go into the "exotic spelling"-graze. It would be understandable, though, since there used to be a rule that forbit all foreign spelling. My sister was supposed to have Beta as her second name but it had to be changed to Peetta to match the Finnish name tradition. Later she changed it to Beta.

Even in our dear little country, it seems to depend somewhat on the registrar in question whether or not you can name your baby whatever you like. I find it very odd that some random Mutikainen family with no connection to the English-speaking world was able to name their son Ridge, and yet my acquaintances had to fight tooth and nail to name their daughter Delphine, even though the girl's mother comes from a French-speaking country.

Well, if the little girl has any Greek ancestry at all (and IMNSHO even if not), Alexia is a perfectly good name; a derivation of Alexandra. Now, Dyslexia would be another case... :P
