...I am such a dork. For some reason I was thinking that Pretty Hate Machine is a song and not, you know, an entire album. Might have something to do with the combination of being drunk and being half-deaf from ear infection. :D

In exchange, here's the aria we talked about - from the opera Lakmé (1883), by Léo Delibes. Delibes isn't one of the hugely big opera composers, more like a well-kept secret. I hear he was a favourite of Tshaikovski's.

I have two fairly different versions so I'm uploading both:

I wish I could still find the version I had when I was a kid; it was divinely beautiful. But I never knew who it was performed by.

Thanks for the songs! Weird mix I have now, some backstreet boys, some nine inch nails, one manic street preachers and now these...:)
