Urgh. It seems like The Deathly Hollows has leaked to the net. I planned to put myself to quarantine right after the book comes to sale, and to not open an internet access until after reading it. Now to be sure about avoiding spoilers I would have to cut myself from the net *right now*. I don't think that I can do that :(

I know what you mean! I had to take myself off of my HP communities because stupid people were leaking spoilers in huge writing. Yikes!

the obvious places to keep out of are the hp communities and the mega communities like ohnotheydidnt. still, I don't trust even my friends list completely to not to post something. with the last book someone had put several lj-cuts in one post. In one of them was the big spoiler and stupid me I went to read some other lj-cut in the same post. guess if there was any spoiler space between the cuts?

At least we will be completely cut off from the society latest on thursday morning. If we manage to avoid all spoilers until then, we shoud be safe. I will go and buy the book as soon as Akateeminen opens on Saturday. We have already reserved the book.

Put a sign to the door at your room at the hospital "No Harry Potter spoilers in this room!"
You never know who is HP-fan and likes spoilers. A nurse, another patient, a guest....

Oh I hate spoilers. Personally I don't mind some kind of spoilers (tried to find everything I could about Star Wars movies before they came out), but I hate the idea that people, papers, websites don't warn about them and publish everything right in the front page where every can see it whether they want or not. I read some spoilers, but I don't want everyone to see them because most people don't want to. Get my point?

Harry Potter spoilers are especially something that annoy me, because that's something I don't want to read/hear myself either.

Like you, I doubt that I can disconnect myself from the internet until the book is available, but let's see if there is any other option.

As I'm visiting [livejournal.com profile] twindouble right now, one feasible fear is that Twin's husband can't help himself and he will blur out something major just to see our reaction. that would be his "humour".

Minä aion taas odotella suomenkielistä versiota ja spoilaantua sitä odotellessa kaikessa rauhassa, tai muuten en voisi tavata teitä ketään seuraavaan puoleen vuoteen.

I don't understand why people feel the need to spread spoilers in the first place. Does it make them feel special?

Myself, I'm of two minds about spoilers. On one hand, I'd like to read the book at my own pace (=not in 24 hrs) and discover everything by myself. On the other hand, we already know (even I managed to read this in some paper or other last year) few key characters will die. Maybe I want to be prepared for a possible favourite kicking the bucket?

I dunno. But to be on the safe side, I'll stick to reading SGA and stay away from the HP communities.
