I found a new hobby :) On a spur of a moment, I went to a one-day bead making course. Yes, we made beads. Yes, they have courses for it. We made acrylic beads with millifiori technique and learned to make the holes to the beads and such. (it means that we take this Play Doh-kind of plastic and make stuff of it and then bake it on the owen to harden it.)

It was very educating, especially to notice how mad over hand crafting can people be! Most of the people were hard core knitting enthusiasts, or made glass bead works or something, and of course they all knew each other from the Finnish hand craft boards.. And I was like, "I bumbed into this when I Googled jewelry crafting" two weeks go." Our teacher was a some kind of legend in the small area of acryl bead making and very nice. And as it happens, now I'm all into it, ready to put hours crafting beads that will most probably end up looking like something what my niece would make in kindergarten out of Play Doh and not something that I could wear. Oh well.

Anyway, like a good litte hand crafter, I want to post pictures of my works. But I promise to not make it a habit! (posting pictures, I mean)

Here are the beads that I made in the course. They are actually more crappy that what the pic implies.

And, because our teacher had made black scull beads and they were supposed to be really hard to do, I just have to try making the damn sculls. I didn't even have the right colors, but so what. They turned out pretty good. Maybe I should try to sell them or something to get even with the supplies they took because it's not like I would do anything with cutesy pink scull beads...

I love them! I've never made jewellery, but I'd love to try sometime. BTW, if you really want to sell the pink skulls, I could buy them for my 12-year-old sister ;)

Please, do keep posting pictures of your crafts :)

Thanks! If I continue, I would have to make a third blog for hand crafting O_O Where the world is going when a person needs three different blogs?

Oh. I have three different blogs... [livejournal.com profile] twindouble, [livejournal.com profile] pehmea_paketti and [livejournal.com profile] prosessi. Am I an official LJ nerd now? At least I don't keep a LJ for my pet or SCA persona...

I'm incredibly lazy and have just one journal. I used to have two but got tired of logging in and out all the time. The way I "organize" things is that fandom babblings are public and personal stuff is locked. Works for me!

Oh and the beads are really pretty! If you make more, I might be tempted to order some from you...

That one is private. It should look intimidating.

I didn't know about Prosessi either. I friended Prosessi just incase Prosessi friends me. I don't expect that to happen, but I'm being all, like, prepared. If it's what I think it is: Way to go!

On the beads: I love, love, love them! I'm not into skulls in general, but those are super cool!

This was the first time I mentioned Prosessi to anyone. Sorry to say, but it really is going to be a private thing... No offence.

Very nice indeed

Hi,

I love what you were able to do "in the spur of the moment". The correct term for the material in English is Polymer Clay so if you google that up you are able to find TONS of pages with information. I just have to warn you: this is addictive stuff as you are able to get marvelous results even with 5 minutes attention span. Not that I would mind you getting addicted :)

Actually your beads are way better IRL as the tranclucency of the white does not picture well. Do not bash yourself for theese: the beads are about 10 million times better than the ones I made when I started. Or even year after that. When I started there was not much information available other than not to burn clay in oven (ahem, I did it anyway, but it was accident. Honestly it was!).

Anyway, just had to comment.

Pörrö

Ps. List yourself to www.blogilista.fi. Many bloggers and blog readers do not use livejournal and I would like to read you blog too :D Most people in Finland use blogilista to find out when their fave blogs have updated. I am sure others from the workshop would gladly read your blog too - even if you are not going to start a third one for polyclaying. But if you do, remember to add yourself to askartelumassat- kategory too

With private you mean that it's for youself only?
I friended it, because it would be interesting if I guess correctly what's it all about, but it's totally your choice want to want to do with it. Really! None taken. : )
