Grr. Argh.

So, Fall Out Boy's new album's release date has been postponed. Grr. Argh. The official reason is that placing the release date to the America's presidential elections voting day was, eventually, a bad idea.

Never mind that it was a dumb idea, I'm not buying that reason for a second. First of all, they were in their first announcement like "we don't know when, we try to get it released still this year". What, are release dates like huge carousel rides, you skip a day and you have wait months for the next date? I don't think so.

Second, the announcement promised that there would be something extra in the album because of the delay. Um, the original date was only a few weeks from now, and you are telling me that the cd's haven't been pressed yet? How does it look like that they have been struggling with the date the whole time, but only now they had to confess that no way in hell would the album be ready?

Another option, and I think this is it, is that their label Island shat a brick when they saw the poor chart numbers of the first single "I Don't Care", and decided to push the release date and start over with a new single. It might be that the label was already nervous with the band doing a different kind of music than previously, and when the audience didn't fell in love with it, they pushed the panic button.

It looks like all is not well in the label land. Pete Wentz blew his fuse after Island released their video with more product placement than the band indented, but he seems to be unwillingly tongue tied about the issue since then. The second announcement, a couple of hours after the original "Sorry, folks!"-announcement, told that the new date would be December 16. But this announcement wasn't as we-are-all-big-family-here than the first one, telling that the band had actually worked /argued with Island to get the album published at least in this year.

The band, not the label, launched their own viral marketing campaign and has given interviews from left to right, and now the label pushes the date? What, the label suddenly decided to aim for the Christmas sale? It's not looking too good. The fans are trying to guess how many, if any, albums there are left in FOB's contract with Island.
