The laptop computers that I and the workplace assistant were going to get? Not for us! The laptops came, with our personal stuff and passwords and all installed, and the Power that Be just kept them in a card board box in his office, and the assistant was like, Well?

It turned out that the Power That Be didn't like the idea of us getting the newest and the shiniest, so they are going to someone elses, and the someone elses' computers are going to us, with probably some more rounds of computer merry-goes-around in the between when the people settle their pecking order of which the computers seem to fall downriver. So I will be getting a some computer, sometimes this summer. I'm just hoping that my piece of crap won't die before that. I really had to hold my tongue while e-mailing to the computer support to explain why they wouldn't be receiving the old laptops any time soon. I'm feeling very Dilbert-ish right now.
