True Love VS. Realism Poll Re-cap
Apr. 24th, 2007 04:16 pmIn my last entry I posted a “true love” poll. and here are the results.
The original question about the traits that would prevent you from marrying was worded badly. The issue was more about what traits would prevent you from starting a committed relationship with a person that you are strongly attracted to.
The most popular reason for not committing was “he/she would require you to cut contact with your friends” (100% of all the persons who checked at least one ballot)
This seems to be very important thing. It’s also a thing differencing from most of the other traits so that it’s nothing that you would just have to decide if you would see it as bad or not, it would be something that would effect directly to the person answering. Personally, I have seen this happening in some degree. The person claims to happy, so what am I to argue?
Soon after the previous reasons were
Considerably less intelligent than you, (95,2%)
Has a strict religion (muslim, catholic, orthodox jew etc.), would require you to convert (87,0%)
Uses drugs (87,0%)
he/she would require you to stop doing something that you really like (keep cats, go to bars without him/her, reading slash etc.) (91,3%) and
Has hit you or smacked you, even once.(82,6%)
All of these were also things that broke the back of the figurative camel. Excluding the intelligence question, these also affected directly the person answering.
In the next level of no-no, getting more than 50% of the of the “votes” were
Is over 30 years older than you (66,7&)
Is over 30 years younger than you (76,2%)
Is under 18 (if that is legal where you live) (61,9%)
has schizophenia (57,1%)
has tried suicide more than once (66,7%)
Has a kid or more, isn't interested about them at all (76,2%)
unemployed, doesn't really want to work (66,7%)
Financially solely depending on you, with debts (76,2%)
Doesn't have an education at all (66,7%)
Is very religious (if you aren't) or non-religious (if you are) (52,2%)
You don't have a shared language that you would both speak well (52,2%)
Has alcohol problem, admits it (60,9%)
doesn't love you that much (73,9%)
Considerably less votes got the age issue within 20 years of the voter’s age, the kid issue, appearance and law-biding.
Non-issues (0%) were
Is over 10 years older than you
In on psyche meds (depression etc.)
Unemployed
Doesn't have a higher education
Considerably more intelligent than you
his /her parents are/were alcoholics
Is bisexual
Are we open minded or what? Okay, seriously now. I made the poll to give something to think about, to make people to notice how we are not all-accepting. But that’s okay. We don’t have to be.
