OhnotheyDidnt had a post about what books teens read to "learn" things, and it occurred to me that I have never read W.C Andrew's Flowers in the Attic. I think that I skipped most of the women's romance trash when I jumped straight to adult science fiction and things like Modesty Blaise and john Irving books.

Still, everyone has the book that "everyone" in their school just had to read. For me it was Deborah Spungen's And I Don't Want To Live This Life, which is the book about Nancy Spungen and Sid Vicious. And of course I read my Angeliques and my Cave Bear Clans, aren't those my generation's porn books?

Also, at Christmas my mom gave her own copy of Graham Greene's Travels with My Aunt, one of my all time favorites :)

OMG Angelique and the Cave Bear thingy...

*memory lane*

I actually have all those! I found all Angelique books in an old books store for like a penny each. Could not leave them there. So nostalgic, but I could read only the first two before throwing up...

Oh man. It's a teenager thing. I remember reading those books and being all OMG about poor Angelique. Also, so much Joffrey Peyrac love. He so totally rocked!

*mildly ashamed*

Then again, that was like 20 years ago. Teenagers are total idiots. :)

hm, I wonder in what age you would give them for your daughter to read?

I even have all the Angelique movies.

*headdesk*

Hmmm..... Vorlon fancier, eh? In or out of the encounter suit?

In. The out version is not so much to my liking. ;)

So true. ;)

I managed to miss at least some of the everyone-has-to-read-it books in my youth; that Nancy Spungen book and every other drug-related book, now that I think about it.

Of the Cave Bear books (totally misread that as Care Bears!) I read the first two and then decided they were boring. Flowers in the Attic seemed like a horror book (maybe the cover looked scary? Can't remember anymore) so I stayed far, far away from it (horror isn't my thing, books or movies).

Seriously, there has to be some books I've read as well as everyone else... just can't remember any of them at the moment.

I knew there had to be at least one ;) Yep, the Moomins, both the books and the comics.
