How about this for UNFAIR?

Grr! Grr!! Argh!

Two days ago it got proved that I'M ALLERGIC TO CHOCOLATE!

This deserves capitals! The pure powdered cocoa bean and the 70% dark chocolate were my favorites. The allergic reaction isn't that bad, just a red face and swollen lips and eye lids, but considering that my other food allergy (to shell fish) is severe (as in "then you'll die!") I have to watch out for this one, too.

Unfair! :(

Thanks. What I will do for now on? Sex? ;)

Well, as long as you aren't allergic to that!!! ;)

Sex instead of chockolate?

Well, doesn't sex have many of the same symptoms as chocolate for Emma? Red face, etc.

*snort*

Oh no! Is it only limited to cocoa beans or is there a chance of a cross reaction to something else?

My self"testing" was only with dark chocolate and pure cocoa powder, so I don't know. I have never had the full scale allergy test and as I'm now within the public health care, I probably never will. But at least it's not peanuts, too, since I had them yesterday and this morning and I'm perfectly fine.

[identity profile] omega-h.livejournal.com 2005-09-18 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see why you couldn't get proper allergy testing. Especially since you get very serious reactions too. It might take a bit longer than with YTHS but you should get yourself tested.

[identity profile] twindouble.livejournal.com 2005-09-18 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree! We wouldn't want to find you some day dead, because you had a teespoon of meat broth, or something similar.

Public health care is not that bad. I've used it for years (no YTHS for me...) and it works. Just call them and find out who your doctor is, and everything goes well.

And about that allergy... Poor you! That really is unfair, both shell fish and chocolate, totally unfair!

Call the health center, you usually get an appointment within a week or so. And if you have some kind of paper that says you're unemployed, you don't even have to pay anything. Tell the doctor what's been going on and you should get either a referral to the allergy clinic or a referral to testing.

I really find it a bit worrying that your allergies are 'advancing'. It could be peanuts next as they're a very potent allergic agent.

Um, so I just call and say that I need an appointment to a general doctor and bacause I used to be a student I don't have a certain doctor or anything? I checked and I belong to the Kirkkotie health center. I'm generally really bad at going to a doctor.

[identity profile] twindouble.livejournal.com 2005-09-18 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So your health care center is close! You don't even have to go to the town hospital, like I had to. And yes, you do just that. Call them, and say that you don't know who your doctor should be, but you need an appointment. And they will give you one. As simple as that. It really is good to have your allergies tested. You might find some surprises there, like my darling husband did (potatoes, wheat, eggs, onions, you name it).

[identity profile] omega-h.livejournal.com 2005-09-18 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, they ask where you live and then give you an appointment to the one you belong to. It's worked really well with TR. And if you take some proof that you're unemployed, they don't charge for it or anything.

Oh that really sucks! Chocolate is, like, a whole food group in itself.
